At least that is what happened to the 28 participants that Glenn O'Neil surveyed at LIFT07. Fascinating research and surprising conclusions:
• These 28 participants had considerable networks prior to the conference - reaching some 30% of all participants.
• These networks increased after the conference - the 28 people were then connected to some 50% of all participants.
• Based on the sample of 28 participants, most participants doubled their networks at LIFT07 - e.g. if you went to the conference knowing five people, you would likely meet another five people at the conference - thus doubling your network to ten.
Here is the network map before the conference:
Then after:
Full report available on Glenn O'Neill's blog. We are looking for more great insights from Glenn and his new venture, Owl Re, our survey partner for LIFT08.
Starting tomorrow, TED will start broadcasting some of our videos via their amazing video podcast service (see announcement here).
Simply put, TED is the world's best conference with speakers like Richard Branson or Bill Clinton, and a Texas-sized waiting list. Their TED talks platform is an imperishable source of inspiring presentations delivered to your desktop, now featuring some of LIFT's best talks!
Seeing LIFT on TED's site makes me very proud, but more importantly it shows that we are doing pretty good on our self-appointed mission of promoting discussion around the changes and opportunities brought by technology in our society. Enjoy the show :)
I'm at SIME, having a drink with Rodrigo of vPod, and he reminded me that LIFT's videos are available in full screen! See them on our dedicated channel available on my.vpod.tv/liftconference.
Every year Tristan Pfund of Osmose does a short film to capture the ambiance of the conference. Check out this year's piece, you probably appear on the screen if you were at the conference.

If you read the previous post carefully, you probably noticed that our friend John Staehli is not in this year's casting as he decided to focus on personal projects and take some time off the stress, fun and discoveries of LIFT. We wish him all the best and John should of course be hanging around the LIFT corridors in 2008, or around the fondue at the bains des paquis.
John has had more time to blog lately, and you should check his writings on his website: blog.alceste.ch (I will let him explain the "why Alceste" part ;).
John, merci d'avoir été l'un des trois premiers à croire en LIFT, et merci pour tous ces précieux coups de main et conseils tout au long de l'aventure. The door is always open :)
