Fontself goes live

Do you remember Fontself? The project of Franz Hoffman and Marc Escher has gone a long way since its presentation at the Lift07 experience, under the supervision of Cristiana Bolli and an early implementation by Nicholas Wolff.

Check these guys out and give it a go on fontself.com.

Remember that this is still a work in progress, so there will be some strange looks sometimes, but, hey!, isn't it fun anyway!?
So, we are looking forward to see the results, and do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions or comments.

I just wanted to thank you for the great feedback on FONTSELF during LIFT08!

Fontself would benefit from HTML tags (hyperlinks!)

Fontself is nice as it brings lots of personal flavour to the web page... I do wonder how many people out there can read my handwriting though?! I wish fontself would allow markup, at least clickable hyperlinks are a must! ;-D Fontself Wishlist Strong Text Hyperlinks Lists (ordered and unordered) Citations So, what markup support do you want to see in fontself? Please comment!

The Pen vs The Machine

I had almost forgotten what it felt like to pick up a pen and write until LIFT 08. Since my love affair with the laptop began some many years ago, my pen has been limited to the occasional birthday card or scribbles on the back of a business card (the new fag packet). I had also forgotten how much it hurt. No wonder I failed all those paper based exams at school. It was too much effort. Come to think of it, why we do we ask today's students to apply an old technology, that requires different skills and hard-wiring, in the exam hall situation? The delete key is much easier than an apprenticeship in painting and decorating i.e. tip-ex. The pen vs the machine is a fascinating debate... a battle best described by Professor Michael Wesch of Kansas State University - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gmP4nk0EOE Martin Cahill e: mcahill@gmail.com w: http://martincahill.wordpress.com m: +44 (0)774 7740579

me and my fontself

so I still don't really "blog" -- even after attending two Lifts -- but am definitely excited to check out my fontself: here it goes... ...if my buddies or others are reading, well, I do promise to add future musings: musings on the future, sarkozy-bruni (or is it bruni-sarkozy?) and other things lift-related soon. [NB: it would appear after "previewing" that my fontself is not, in fact, present. where is she????]

Fontself

Mainly a fontself test, but... I've met some facinating people! You know who hou are!
