A closer look at the upcoming Lift Experience at Lift France 11!

Besides inspiring talks and workshops, one of Lift Conference's special treats is the Lift Experience. Think of a huge space where new media artists and interaction designers are invited to display pieces that address the conference topics in a different way. Meet other attendees and get inspired by a series of projects aimed to provoke a dialogue between people with different backgrounds and cultures from all over the world.

You can read more about all the projects to be presented here.

This year's program is piloted by Design the Future Now in partnership with:

- Nod-A
- Marseille 2013.org
- M2F Créations
- Le Carrefour des Possibles
- Studio Lentigo

Lift Experience at Lift10: Mode-Démo final update

Besides inspiring talks and workshop, one of Lift Conference's special treats is the Lift Experience. This year, our artistic partner is the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD-Geneva). Under the title Mode-Démo and based on the conference theme, this exhibit offers a comment rather than an illustration of the Lift10 theme. Leading up to the conference, we'll be filling you in on the 16 projects that will be presented at Lift10. Here is the final update on the selected projects...

The pursuit of happiness: Visualisation of dialogues on Facebook - by Matthieu Cherubini (HEAD–Geneva/Media Design) attempts to explore what people are really seeking through a service like Facebook. The experiments presented exploit the network's access flaws and show some of the content and the main features of the dialogues which appear on this platform.

Interactivity, particularly the video game, leads to a new conception of narration and of the role of the reader. How can one introduce the practices and user experience of digital media into the printed book to update it, to extend its field and to engage the reader in a new way? More info here.

The scenography

One of the big change from last year's Lift is the fact that we invited the HEAD - Geneva to design the Lift Experience space. Here is what they have been preparing, and where our participants will network next week:

Fontself goes live

Do you remember Fontself? The project of Franz Hoffman and Marc Escher has gone a long way since its presentation at the Lift07 experience, under the supervision of Cristiana Bolli and an early implementation by Nicholas Wolff.

Check these guys out and give it a go on fontself.com.

Lift Asia Experience: Anti VJ, Surveillance Drama and more

The program of the Lift Asia 09 experience is now known, and Art Center Nabi is again bringing top artists and creators to Lift! This year the experience format will evolve, with each session opening with a performance by one of the following:

I am really looking forward to the see the Surveillance dramas, a series of short movies using CCTV cameras to revive scenes of Kill Bill and Star Wars :)

Not so empty book

During the conference, Laurent Bolli and his team from Bread and butter published four editions of a magazine printed live from the conference content! Lifters could then get their hands on the ideas and photos made during the conference, a nice way to materialize the experience that Lift provides. Here are the PDFs of the magazined that have been printed:

Edition 1: What happened to my flying car?
Edition 2: Where is my robot friend?
Edition 3: Why an overwhelming number of designs fail?
Edition 4: Who is in charge of the present?
