What can the future do for you?
Lift works to identify and anticipate current and emerging usagesof digital technologies through research, events, publications and services.
For the second year we will organize informal discussions during around themes chosen by the participants. Called Birds of a Feather, four sessions will happen on Thursday and Friday during the morning and afternoon breaks.
If one of these themes interest you, signup for the session in advance so that the facilitator can better prepare the discussion. It is the same procedure than workshops, click on the title and signup at the bottom of the page.
We have updated the program with the Open Stage talks and the Birds of a feather sessions. If you happen to speak or moderate a session you can now find out when you will be expected by the audience :)
Jean-Henry Morin, Lifter since 2006, former professor at Korea University and now back in Geneva, suggested we change the name of the discussions to Birds of a Feather. Says Wikipedia:
A Birds of a Feather session is an informal meet-up at conferences, where the attendees group together based on a shared interest and carry out discussions without any pre-planned agenda.
This sounds so much cooler than "discussions" that I made the change immediately. And now it is up to you, choose the themes to be discussed during the Lift09 breaks!
We saved more than 40 spots for community presentations in the Lift09 program. Compare that to the 20 slots in the official program and you'll see we are serious about giving you guys the opportunity to speak at Lift!. The propositions are now coming in, and we extended the deadline a bit. And please make your propositions this week if you intend to actively participate in the conference!
We need to have a bit of time to manage the logistics, put the workshops in the right room, spread the open stages in the program at a moment they make more sense, etc.

Current open stage propositions: pretty amazing stuff already!
Everything is explained on the Open Program page, the starting point for anybody who wants to speak at Lift.
Caution: you need to be registered for Lift09 to make a proposition. Otherwise you will receive an error and won't be able to submit your talk.
We have been wondering when you guys would start making your propositions for LIFT08. And it is now it seems, with many of them coming in the last few days :) Let's see: we have 7 open stage propositions, 16 projects for the venture night, 6 workshops and... only 1 discussion (which is a cool format you should really check it out)!
All propositions are assembled on the LIFT08 propositions page, and if you are thinking of speaking yourself hurry up, voting is scheduled to happen in 2 weeks so don't miss your chance to speak at LIFT08!
The first propositions are coming in, we have 2 open stage, 1 workshop and 1 discussion and more LIFTers musing on what to talk about. All these initiatives are part of LIFT's open program, the side of the conference YOU are in charge of.
