Irwin is a Dutch/Canadian artist and administrator doing cultural planning, cultural infrastructure development, and support for a media arts cluster in Vancouver's inner-city. www.creativetechnology.org is a 9,000 square foot community media arts centre being developed parallel to a massive inner-city redevelopment www.woodwardsdistrict.com that opens before the 2010 Winter Olympics. Irwin works with the Fearless Media Cluster, a unique grouping of tech companies, open source activists, bloggers, low income residents and artist codesigning open source communications systems for this area—Canada's poorest neighbourhood. www.fearlesscity.ca is in alpha stage, while it's mobile arm, supported in 2008 by New Media BC's www.mobilemuse.ca platform, will enable urban poor/artists to access an open mesh network, recycled mobile devices, two-way rich media file sharing, and interactive live screens in public spaces. Irwin is also a parent, artist, curator, and works as Executive Director of Gallery Gachet, an interdisciplinary cultural centre for artists informed by mental health issues, trauma and/or addictions.
