La Semeuse
An excellent reputation
La Semeuse occupies one of the top spots on the coffee market in the French speaking part of Switzerland and is certainly the leader in "high quality" coffee.
Over generations, the Bloch family developed its business and acquired a solid experience in roasting coffee. This remakable journey of a family and its business opened the doors little by little by little to gastronomes and to the finest restaurants in the country.
A very fine centenary
One hundred years after its foundation, La Semeuse employs 30 employess. It has a new production factory in the industrial area of La chaux-de-Fonds.
In 2000, in celebration of the hundredth anniversary of La Semeuse, François Junod, an automaton specialist from Sainte-Croix, created an android figure, “The Turk drinking coffee on a flying carpet” as a unique masterpiece with a mechanism activated by a single coffee bean. When not on loan to museums or exhibitions, this automaton can be seen in our store in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
