we hope you are doing great ! We would like to announce today a new and exciting development in the life of the Lift community: Lift France !

The magnificent Palais du Pharo in Marseille will host our next conference, taking place this year on June 18-20. With now three conferences a year, this means that we will have more amazing ideas and people coming your way. Join us for what is shaping up as a unique event with some of the world’s best minds, built around the theme « Hands-On Future ».

Lift France 09 : Hands-On future !

As announced at Lift09, we are launching a new series of events in Europe. In partnership with FING, France’s best think tank, we will organize a conference in Marseille, an exciting city that has been chosen as Europe’s culture capital for 2013.

On June 18, 19 and 20, Lift France’s program will be articulated around three sub themes :
- Changing Things, towards objects that are not just "smart" and connected, but also customizable, hackable, transformable, fully recyclable.
- Changing Innovation, towards continuous and networked innovation, emerging from users as well as entrepreneurs, researchers or activists.
- Changing The Planet, towards a "green design" that reconnects global environmental challenges with growth, but also with human desire, pleasure, beauty and fun.

We have ordered sunny weather and fresh drinks. We are planning unique social events (the conference center is on a beautiful spot overlooking the Mediterranean Sea), have invited local and international creators to surprise you during the Lift experience, and our speaker roster (http://liftconference.com/lift-france-09/speakers) will feature the likes of John Thackara (Doors of perception), Rob van Kranenburg (Waag Society), Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino (tinker.it), Catherine Fieschi (Counterpoint), Dennis Pamlin (WWF), Dominique Pestre (EHESS), Edith Ackerman (MIT), Elizabeth Goodman (UC Berkeley), Euan Semple (euasemple.com), Frank Kresin (Waag Society), Jean-Michel Cornu (FING), Marc Giget (CNAM), Remi Dury (De Fact), Michael Shiloh (Open Moko) and Usman Haque (haque::design+research).

Of course, we would never inaugurate a new Lift without our lucky charm, mister Bruce Sterling!

We are again committed to make Lift accessible to the largest audience, and are offering tickets at only 350 euros until March 25. After that date, we have created a discount code for the members of the Lift community. We are also offering 40 tickets for students at only 100 euros. These will not last, so if you have an email address from an academic institution register before it is too late !

As usual the Lift09 talks have been published by the Télévision Suisse Romande only a couple of minutes after they happened. You can find all the talks on http://tsr.ch/lift

This year, the talks are available in both English and French, and will now be published on our video portal http://liftconference.com/videos at the pace of one speech per week.

Don’t try to find Anne Galloway’s and Frank Beau’s talks. For copyright reasons they can not be made available on the web. We are convinced there are already plenty of great ideas in what is available.
