Workshop organizer profile: Matthias Luefkens

Lift10 is in less than 7 weeks time, and we are posting profiles of the workshop organizers. Don't forget to have a look at the program!

Matthias Luefkens will be hosting a workshop entitled Travel 2.0 at Lift 10.

Matthias is Associate Director in charge of digital media at the World Economic Forum. He is also the founder of the In Your Pocket city guides - print and online city guides to 40 European cities. He was formerly the deputy editor in chief of EuroNews television and freelance correspondent for AFP, The Daily Telegraph and Liberation, in the Baltic States from 1991 - 1996.

His workshop will examine the future of the printed travel guide. Lonely Planet, Rough Guide or Let's Go, the iconic backpacker accessory of the 1980s and 90s is about to be replaced by the smartphone. Will the iPhone replace the printed guidebook?
Google Goggles, Wiki Travel, Tripadvisor - what are tomorrow's sources for travel information?
Will Twitpic replace traditional postcards?
What are the new trends of the connected traveller?
