Today, Rob van Kranenburg organized a great Lift @ home event at iMal in Brussels about the Internet of Things.

The morning was made of a bunch of quick and punchy presentations by designers, artists, engineers, hackers, policy-makers and representatives from industrial companies. The sum of all the perspective gave an interesting kaleidoscopes of visions about what is the Internet of Things, how it can be dealt with, what sort of issues are stake and what is currently done. To some extent, the top-down approach (as shown by the EC presence who lead call for projects in this field) and the bottom-up approach tried to converge.

The afternoon was spent on 7 workshops where break-out groups addressed various questions such as the link between the Internet of Things and education, mediation, the appropriation of such technologies or the role of networked artifacts in the home environment.

Overall, the event kicked off the discussion that Council aims to lead about the important role the Internet of Things will play in the near future. Thanks Rob for this day!
