The 20th century was the age of mass production. Now we are entering the age of mass niche. In mass production, costs and affordability were the keys. Now, with basic necessities abundant (at least in industrialized parts of the world), people look for uniqueness and diversity. The large-scale mass production model is not very valid in this era. This has huge implication to the world, and one thing clear is that arts and the artists will play an increasingly central role in the economy.
