Lorenz M. Hilty is professor of Informatics and Sustainability at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. His interdisciplinary research team is attempting to use the transformational power of digital technologies to support sustainable development. The team is shared with Empa, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology. In addition, Lorenz is the Sustainability Delegate of the University of Zurich and Affiliated Professor at the Center for Sustainable Communications (CESC) at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.

Lorenz has started his work on digital ICT and sustainability in the 1990ies and has published more than hundred articles and several books in this field since then. His latest book is the multi-authored volume ICT Innovations for Sustainability, published in 2015.
