Subodh is a theoretical physicist (and failed musician) specializing in early universe cosmology and its interface with particle physics at the highest energies. His recent work has focused on uncovering the fundamental physics that gave rise to the Big Bang, and questions whether it really was the beginning of the universe.
This line of inquiry often leads into terrain where the right framework for understanding what is unknown is unclear, if it even exists at all. He works on a broad range of topics in theoretical high energy physics and has collaborated with sound artist Bill Fontana during his Arts@CERN residency.
His day job involves interfacing with cosmological and astrophysical data and probing it for hints of physics far beyond what we can ever hope to directly test with terrestrial experiments such as the Large Hadron Collider. After finishing his doctoral studies at McGill University, he relocated to Europe where he's since held research positions at the Humboldt University of Berlin, The Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, and most recently at CERN before joining the University of Geneva.
