Part of the Session THE NEW FACE OF GAMING
On March 11, the Maison d'Ailleurs museum of Science Fiction, Utopias and Extraordinary Journeys will premiere an ambitious international exhibition: Playtime: Videogame Mythologies. Curated by José Luis de Vicente, the show addresses the symbolic and iconic potential of gaming, one of the essential cultural forms of our time, through innovative new media projects, art pieces, emerging technologies and historial artifacts. Featuring works by important names in the scene of new media art and the independent game scene (Julian Oliver, Aram Bartholl, Kyle McDonald, thatgamecompany, Ryota Kuwakubo and many others), the exhibition travels through themes like the spatial qualities of games, the breaking down of the distance between games and real life, or the changes in identity and the body we experiment when we are playing. Playtime: Game Mythologies is one of the highlights of the Game Culture program of Pro Helvetia, exploring the art and the industry of games in Switzerland.
