Explosion of professional usage of social networking sites? Myth or reality? Valérie Bowens & Laure Kloetzer

Today, social media like Facebook, Linkedin/Xing, Twitter are said to have the potential to revolutionize the way business is done.

The User Observatory at Swisscom has recently led an in depth study about the professional usage of social networking services (SNS) by lead users.

We would like to invite you to a workshop where we will first present our key study results then brainstorm together how these observed use cases could massively impact the way people work and communicate in small and big companies.
- We plan to introduce you to some SNS lead users we met and share with you what we believe were their key successful use cases of SNS.
- On the basis of these findings, we would like to pick out some of you (a mix of independent and large companies employees), discuss in groups if the use cases we have identified could transfer to your concrete cases and how it could develop further.
- We will then together try to map the expected impact of these social media on global work and communication patterns.
