Privacy vs. Freedom of Speech, Law enforcement and the internet

You need a conference ticket to sign up for this workshop.
If you already have a ticket, please log in.

This is a follow-up workshop on (http://www.liftconference.com/civil-rights-2-0-and-what-european-governm...), the one I held on Lift08.

Once again I'll give an overview about how governments in Europe handle privacy, data protection and which role social networks play here. With a bit of a twist, I'll show as well how data protection laws can actually work against freedom of speech.

As we'll see the presentation on Privacy 2.0 in the afternoon, I'll present some of the legal foundations ahead, including the recent decision of the constitutional court in germany on the european data retention directive.

To prepare the workshop I'd like to invite everyone to go through a small exercise on privacy: http://team.eisago.eu/display/pub/Privacy+Exercise
