Denopticon: a game of privacy, identities, expectations and – perhaps – irrational choices

You need a conference ticket to sign up for this workshop.
If you already have a ticket, please log in.

Is privacy dead? Do we need a cure for privacy? How can the people and companies that hold your data really be trusted?

We are delighted to invite you to explore different aspects of the controversial theme of privacy in an interactive, fun-packed workshop.

Issues around secrecy, control, anonymity (and other aspects of privacy) will be explored in a role playing game – where information, trust, money and social capital are complementary currencies; these will be important to reveal the dynamics of the tension between public and private.

Denopticon is the playful outcome of a project – from Vodafone’s User Experience team – to rethink the tools and practices for empowering people in their choices to share information with their peers and the companies they do business with. The game is a way to introduce some of the most important findings of the project, including the need to replace the traditional model of privacy-by-(unintelligible)-policy with privacy-by-design.

Denopticon is a way to start a conversation about the new services and tools that will need to be introduced before we can move with confidence towards a society where "publicy" is the new privacy.

Intrigued? We are looking forward to exchanging ideas with you. See you at the workshop!
