Innovation VS product lifecycle: must innovation always be doomed by product’s lifecycle?

Presentation type:
Share an idea

The Idea:
We all know that great innovation goes fast as good idea burst in one second. On the other side, we know that the product lifecycle dictates the tempo of all tech-related industries. Alternative, low fuel cars, water engine, all the things we need to save the day…. were there already yesterday! Same things happen in IT and telecommunication technology over the past 15 years.

Adding to the mess, the temporality of the various streams of communication (technical, financial, commercial) of a company have nothing in common, dealing with the very different needs of each receiving community (engineers, investors, consumers).

The Speech:
For a reminder, let's just see what was planned for 2009 in 1999, and understand how product lifecycle slowed down or even stopped the availability of many widely expected futuristic innovations. Then, taking into account the latest technology, nearly ready for mass market or just out of the lab, I'd like to expose and discuss with the floor, our vision of the media consumer and media producer in such a possible world.

The Debate (wherever - whenever)
Does product lifecycle kill innovation or it's a necessary process to finance research?
What is the impact of open innovation and/ on those lifecycle?
Will product lifecycle disappear or loose its bad side effect in free / creative commons world?
How can we do differently?
Can new market with new rules and new tools be created for real?
