Fontself

Official request from LIFT art director…to all participants!!

Among other fascinating works in (never-ending) progress projects I will present, here is a thrilling community challenge: FONTSELF is a type project about handwriting and drawn writing. It provides the ability to create fonts that preserves the gestures of a given handwriting and the original look of the drawing appliance (ball-point pen, pencil, ink, paper, very thick brushes, very thin special pens,etc.).

FONTSELF will allow us to create a unique LIFT08 font, composed on the handwriting of the LIFT community !!!

Please please please help me nurture that LIFT08 font. Participating is as easy as 1-2-3 and will take you 10 Mins -if you wish to spend more time is up to you:

  1. Open the PDF attached, print it.
  2. Read the instructions and fill in all the fields required
  3. Scan your 2 Handwriting-Font-pages and send them to surprise@liftconference.com.

deadline? Yesterday…but will make our best if you send us the pages till the 5th, 8am Thank you very much!!!

So is this about one single LIFT font or do we each get "our" font? From the press conference, I understood the latter, but I could be mistaken.

Can the result be loaded into Flash? Cause then it could be hooked up with sIFR and we can have the LIFT font all over the site!

Hello Mark!
We're definitely looking forward to get to the sIFR direction for the future ;-)
See you then @ LIFT08!!!

Hi there! You can effectively create your own unique font. As FONTSELF is a work-in-progress project, you will be able to see the results at LIFT but we will process fonts as they arrive: so first come, first served!

My handwriting is really crappy too. Will try to scan and e-mail tonight, hoping it's not too late!

Bother, I missed the deadline -- the worst is that the forms are almost filled completely... just a few more minutes of painful writing, and scanning.

Oh well. Can't do everything, I guess.
