An alternative and entertaining way to participate in the discussions at the Lift Conference was to follow the hash tag #Lift12 on Twitter. Over 430 of the participants were active on the micro-blogging service, sharing notes and anecdotes, pictures and quotes from the speakers on stage.
In total they sent 5450 tweets over the three-day conference with a spike in activity just before the opening session on day 1.
The most prolific tweep, not surprisingly, was Eva, tweeting for the organizers under @LIFTconference. She clocked up 640 tweets, announcing upcoming speakers on the livestream and re-tweeting the best tweets from other participants.
The most active tweeting participants were Olivier Mouroux @OMcoree (210), Honor Harger @HonorHarger (201), Kaitlyn Braybrooke @Kat_Braybrooke (159) and Estelle Metayer @Competia (139) reporting live the best quotes from each speaker.
Among all journalists and bloggers, 35 had twitter accounts, they produced only 460 tweets including Justin Pickard @justinpickard (131), live blogger Stephanie Booth @stephtara (68) and FT journalist Izabella Kaminska @IzaKaminska (22).
Participants were able to follow the Twitter activity live on a Twitter dashboard projected onto a large screen at the congress centre.
The Twitter activity was also captured daily with three infographics:
