I've been on the LIFT site off and on for a few days now. Even though I'm extremely excited about attending, I'm becoming a tad bit overwhelmed with all of the information being presented. Are there any veteran attendees who are willing to "adopt" new attendees during the conference?:-)

That's a great idea (all of your posts!)!
Why don't we organize something (sorry, Laurent, you'll have to re-print the programme.... ;) on Wednesday lunch or so, inviting all new attendees, invite all interested more experienced attendees as well, and focus the discussion(s) on "How does LIFT work?"
The idea is to make 2 "teams". Old-timers will then select their "adoptee" on-site.

lol, you guys are amazing :)
lol, you guys are amazing :) My 2 cents:
- LIFT is really an intuitive experience, don't worry too much. Rules are simple: be yourself, smile, take your time, go talk to people you don't know, close your computer, don't stay in your comfort zone, go to the presentations whose titles intrigue you the most, respect other attendees, be curious, etc... Pretty straightforward stuff.
• we make it hard on the veterans to coach the rookies as each event is very different from the previous year (refer to the booklet for more info on the big 2008 changes), stop giving us great feedback and we will not change the concept every year ;)
• a gathering is a cool idea! I can't come for lunch, but what about meeting for a coffee early on wednesday at Uni Mail?

If you feel too lost, hunt me down (make a beeline for the pink hair), I'm perfectly willing to adopt you!
Hi All Have just been
Hi All
Have just been offered a press pass for LIFT08 and am looking at travel and accommodation now, one week before.
Love the idea of adopt an new attendee and will be taking the advice offered here.
Anyone want to offer advice any (last minute) tips re: budget accommodation and/or travel from Brighton,UK?
I am a very useful, Australian, blogging/communications/art type with a great sideline in cooking breakfast and keeping couches warm. Happy to offer our guestroom in digital Brighton when you Swiss folk are in town, as well as introductions. There is so much going on here. Infact, that's why we moved here from Oz.
Looking forward to meeting you all,
Libby

Adopting a new attendee! loved the idea...I'll keep this in mind for next year, very seriously...
once you get there, I mean> on thursday at the CICG > coffee, smiles, and real people will make you feel at home! (or almost) . Just seat down a while , watch people coming and going or go around looking for nice things to see, meet the designers, photographers, and relax! Then...you're ready to enjoy! see you there!
