Projects in the Spotlight

  • Workshop: Open Data for the Cultural Sector

For Department of Culture of the City of Geneva.

This co-creation workshop brought together urbanists, designers, artists, architects and geographers to explore the potential of Open Data for the cultural sector. In particular, we looked at how open data could be utilized for artistic projects in the public space and institutions, what are the challenges and elements to take into account when using Open Data for artistic public projects and what pertinent services could be created out of open data for the cultural sector.

  • Urban Data Challenge

For the cities of San Francisco, Geneva and Zurich.
In coproduction with Swissnex San Francisco + Gray Area Foundation for the Arts.

The Urban Data Challenge seeks to harvest the innovative and creative power of communities around the world to explore urban data sets through visualization. Designers, programmers, data scientists and artists are invited to take up the challenge: merge and compare mobility data sets from three cities—San Francisco, Geneva, and Zurich—and draw meaningful insights. The project was launched at Lift in February 2013.

  • Lift13 Conference

    For Lift Events.

The 8th edition of Lift, combining visionary themes with innovative formats, brought together over a thousand strategists, entrepreneurs, artists, designers, researchers and students. Going a step beyond the traditional conference format, an intense program of interactive workshops, sketchathons, speed dating sessions, exhibitions, special train rides and social events like the fondue night was rolled out to provide a complete Lift Experience.

  • Curation & Co-Production

    For Digitalpes, Canton de Vaud.

Festival in the Swiss mountains, where internationally renowned digital artists and designers will explore Swiss traditional values from a new angle, Digitalpes is also a label for the Swiss digital avant-garde. Lift is co-producing the event in 2014 together with the Swiss artist Camille Scherrer.

  • Open Innovation Project

For The City of Geneva, Swisscom.
    In coproduction with InteractiveThings.

This project is an artistic visualization of digital traces created by the mobile phones of the city's population, to reflect urban development in Geneva. Lift was responsible for the global coordination of the project and organized a co-creation workshop on data visualization and its impact. Ville Vivante was featured at the Future en Seine Festival in Paris, Ars Electronica and Bejing Design Week.

  • Curation & Co-Production

For The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Presence Switzerland.

Lift curated the Swiss-Korean Innovation Night in Seoul. The project was part of the event series “Swiss Weeks in Seoul” commemorating and celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Switzerland. Lift brought together Swiss innovators and their Korean peers, up-and-coming leaders, artists, researchers and young professionals, to explore prototypes and witness exclusive demos of state-of-the-art projects.

  • Open Innovation Workshop

    For Allianz SE.

Allianz commissioned Lift for two open innovation projects: a co-creation workshop in Geneva on “How to leverage Open Data for Allianz” and a second workshop in Berlin about the “Future of Mobile”. Lift organized the workshops and put together an international panel of early adopters and experts to co-create ideas together with Allianz team members. Both workshops contributed significantly to the Allianz Digital Labs initiative.

  • Start-up Sourcing

    For Procter & Gamble.

Building a bridge between the corporate and startup worlds, Lift facilitated access to its community and helped P&G with sourcing innovative start-ups.

  • Speaker Coaching

For Zentrale Intelligenz Agentur ZIA, Daimler Corporate Academy.

The Daimler Future Days is a series of events that provide the Daimler M&A department with insights on innovation opportunities and relevant trends. For it's 4th edition Lift had the pleasure to provide editorial consulting and speakers coaching to maximize the impact of the presentations.
